This holiday marks the end of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, and takes place during the first 3 days of the tenth month of the Islamic calendar called Shawwal. On the first day of Eid al-Fitr, at sunrise, Muslims have a collective prayer, while wearing new clothes. It is common practice to give presents and spend time with one's nearest and dearest during Eid al-Fitr.
